Spain
Spanish wines run the gamut from the elegant, complex, and ageworthy reds (and whites!) of Rioja, to rich, powerful wines from less widely known regions such as Campo de Borja, Jumilla, and Montsant. Recently the beautiful, precise whites from Basque country have captured the imagination of wine drinkers world-wide, leading them to discover other exciting regions such as Bierzo, and the Ribeira Sacra, more famous for their distinctive red wines. No discussion about Spain would be complete if it didn't mention the fortified wines of Andalucia: Sherry, Malaga, and Montilla. Unique expressions of winemaking that span the range from decadently sweet to mouthwateringly crisp.
